Custom cardboard boxes made from lightweight paperboard for retail shelves, product launches and everyday packaging. Pick the grade, size and finish, and we handle the dieline, proof and printing, starting from 100 boxes.
Cardboard, also called paperboard or folding carton board, is a single solid sheet rather than a fluted one. Thickness is measured in points. Heavier products need a thicker grade so the box holds its shape on the shelf and in the hand. For background on the material, see this overview of paperboard.
| Thickness | Feels like | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 14pt | Thin, flexible | Lip balm, cards, tea sachets, small accessories |
| 16pt | Light but firm | Soap bars, small cosmetics, supplements |
| 18pt | The everyday standard | Most retail product boxes, skincare, candles |
| 20pt | Noticeably sturdy | Heavier retail items, small jars, gift sets |
| 24pt | Stiff and premium | Bottles, glass items, heavier products |

SBS (solid bleached sulfate) is bright white all the way through, with a smooth coated face. It gives the sharpest print and cleanest colors, which makes it the usual pick for cosmetics, skincare and premium retail.
Recycled paperboard (CCNB) has a white coated face and a grey inside. It prints well on the outside, costs less than SBS and suits high-volume retail packaging where the inside is not on show.
Want an earthy, uncoated look instead? Brown kraft board is covered on our kraft boxes page. For products that ship in the mail, corrugated board is the stronger option.
Whether you need a short run of cardboard boxes with logo printing for a launch or custom printed cardboard boxes in bulk, every order gets the same free artwork check and digital proof.
Cardboard boxes are also one of the easiest packaging formats to recycle. Paper and paperboard had a 68.2 percent recycling rate in the US in 2018, the highest of any material, according to the EPA.

Cardboard (paperboard) is a single solid sheet, ideal for retail product boxes. Corrugated board has a wave-shaped fluted layer between two liners, which makes it much stronger for shipping and mailing.
18pt suits most retail products. Go lighter (14pt to 16pt) for small, light items and heavier (20pt to 24pt) for bottles, jars and anything with weight. We will recommend a grade based on your product.
